About the Leader
Dr. Choquette is a visionary nonprofit leader, strategist, and advocate for liberation-centered systems change. As Founder & CEO of the RISE Center for Liberation in Early Childhood Education, she leads initiatives that advance racial equity, economic mobility, and community well-being for children, mothers, early educators, and families. With expertise in organizational culture, leadership development, and public policy, Dr. Choquette is known for building bold, community-driven solutions that reimagine thriving, justice, and collective care across Texas and throughout the United States.
About the Work
RISE advances equitable and transformative early childhood education by developing culturally affirming learning environments, expanding pathways for early educators, and creating economic mobility opportunities for families and communities. Through educator development, workforce innovation, and community-centered programs, RISE works to dismantle systemic inequities in early learning and strengthen outcomes for Black children.
THE 1954 PROJECT
Investing in Durable Leadership & Institutions
The 1954 Project identifies visionary education leaders whose work is strengthening Black communities and invests in them and what they are building with significant, flexible capital and long-term relationship.
Named for the year of the Brown v. Board of Education decision, The 1954 Project honors that promise by backing leaders closest to the work with resources that follow their vision.
This is philanthropy shaped by trust in leaders and commitment to what they’re building.
