Originally from Bowie, Maryland, Aaron Smoot is an energetic, driven, and resourceful professional committed to promoting equity and inclusion in all spaces. After graduating from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Government and Politics, he served as an AmeriCorps member in District of Columbia Public Schools, focusing on social-emotional learning, community engagement, and creating an inclusive culture and climate for all DCPS students. After a year of service, he transitioned to the classroom as an Instructional Coach at LaSalle Backus Education Campus, providing interventions and support for elementary and middle school students. While completing his master’s degree at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, Aaron worked with the CAFÉ Group as a Graduate Fellow supporting the LEAD Internship Program. He is thrilled to bring his strong organizational and analytical skills, commitment to social justice, and enthusiasm to the CAFÉ Group as the LEAD Program Coordinator. In his spare time, Aaron loves to work out, discuss sports, and pretend to be a movie critic.
